Samsung Heavy Industries is engineering 50MW-class floating AI data-center platforms using shipbuilding methods, seawater cooling and either shore power or onboard generation such as LNG-fed solid-oxide fuel cells. It is working with Capital Clean Energy Carriers, Lloyd's Register and Supermicro on design, financing, certification and marine operation. A formal joint development project was signed in June 2026; nothing has been built.

Ecosystem functionBrings Korean shipyard capacity to floating compute, which means it could manufacture at a scale no startup barge project can approach if the demand materialises.
